Our Rivers

Granity Section on the Buller Gorge

Not only do we have some of the most exciting and scenic rivers in the country, the Buller River is the largest free flowing river in New Zealand, meaning we have water – and plenty of it all year round!  So if you are interested in doing a trip with us then plan ahead and book in early so you can get the most from your white water rafting experience.

When these sections get too much water, we have the options to raft the upper section of the Buller River or even the tributaries which join in to the Buller.  We can pretty much get you out there every day of the year!, no matter what the weather.

With our Heli-Rafting runs on the West Coast, Ultimate Descents New Zealand holds one of the few concessions to provide rafting tours the Karamea and Mokihinui Rivers.  These rivers are on the Northern West Coast of the South Island, in and around Kahurangi National Park and Mokihinui State Forest Park.  These concessions are granted by the Department of Conservation and making sure we keep these parts of New Zealand pure and ecologically sound for future generations to come.

We can offer you one of New Zealand‘s largest range of whitewater river trips catering for all ages and experience levels keen for an adventure.

So whether you‘re a big water rafting thrill-seeker, looking for a unique experience on a heli-rafting expedition, maybe after some big fish or just wishing for a scenic float trip with the family, we have the trip for you.
